Several People You Must Read

I am an old hippie. You may or may not have known or guessed that. For some really great stories, and superb writing, you absolutely must try The Hippie Parade written by Singleton. Singleton is the older sister of the Existential Great One Skinny Little Blonde (I don't have to tell you to NEVER buy at car at smart cars, Inc. do I?) so there's this tradition of writing between them.

On Sunday April 6, Raving Black Lunatic wrote a post called "Red, White and Blue Rape" about women in the military being raped. NwG wrote a companion piece to accompany this piece called Semper Fi. Big Man's post references, The Nation, The L.A. Times, and Salon, all reputable sources. I urge you to read these posts.

Until the next time we can talk, I hope you are all well.

I'm glad I did, WnG. We owe all soldiers a level of dignity for the job they do keeping us free. I believe that. I work with a couple of Marines who own a Mortgage Company. They are not they guys that would be causing the problem. They have honor.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't know the details of the law, but I find it rediculous that any contract that anyone signed would absolve others of crimes against you.

Military or not, these men commited a crime. I now have less respect for our military for not only hanging these women out to dry, but for not punishing these men. Since when does some boot camp and a gun give someone such rights?

Well Heather, one of your Senators, a guy named McCain is running for President, and might be the one to answer that question, along with your congressperson. I wrote mine. I'm pretty pissed off about it, actually. Thank you for asking.

Please, don't forget to check out Singleton too! She's great!

I wouldn't want my (hypothetical) daughter going into the military, for sure....

Puss, anytime.

M@, well said, sir.

My Dad was ex-military, and my older brother too. I've heard about this over the years. It's not easy being a woman in the military. I couldn't do it.

I hope you're doing well Monty.

Thanks for the links. I will read through them.

Carrie the rest of us have to stand up and say "this is wrong" to those in power and demand action. It doesn't matter if it's women in the military, Darfur, the Holocaust, or Tibet, it takes people who want decency to protest, to not look away. It's easy to write to my Congressman and my two Senators. They'll know I'm serious when I mention it again next week.

Enjoy the links, they're great blogs! All of them.

You're so right Monty. It's about time this is being forced out into the open. People have tried for a long time but it always fell on deaf ears. Hopefully this time it will bring legitimate, lasting improvements for women.

Wow! Thanks CEO...I haven't been fluttering around the blog-o-sphere for the most of this entire week & you go & send me off to read some exceptional posts by some awesome bloggers! Thank you... I traveled down some new roads tonight.
With reference to contacting our Senators & Congressmen...we have to remember, perseverance will pay off.
As always...p&l

Carry, you're terrific! I'm glad we're friends.

SLB, I always feel good when you drop by. Hug Singleton for me. I have so much trouble commenting on her blog. Her writing leaves me feeling so complete that I am hard pressed to comment. She's wonderful.

Lol...goodness, I will hug her for you! I cannot wait to wrap my bony arms around her! Here's to hoping for June and a week at the beach!
Just catching up & wanted to let you know that YOU are the inspiration behind a gazillion awards I have created. Lol, silly & insignificant as they themselves may be ... I just wanted to say 'thanks' and let you know buried in the mounds are some for you.
