Ending the Blue Funk

I was supposed to pick up Grace's ashes yesterday, but decided that crying was a much better course of action. I'll go and get her remains after I post this. I had a lumbar sacral facet injection, which means the surgeon shot my back full of hydrocortizone, tarragon, sesame oil, a little rosemary, and a little kickapoo joy juice from the hills of Kentucky (I think my friend Allan might have a still). The procedure didn't work very well. Next step, MRI! And then .....

In closing, I tried to help out a friend who works with my wife, Judy. Our friend had bought a condo a year and a half ago for $290,000 (Hello Heather). The appraiser just left and the property is now worth $218,000, she cannot refinance, her equity has vanished, and she has two mortgages over 6.5%. I was just doing financial planning at that point. I work in a lovely, shrinking industry, full of happiness and cheer!

Have a fabulous day! I'm working on ending the Blue Funk.

Dear God,

Please stop sending your challenges to Monty and his family.

Don't you have someone else to pick on?

Sincerely,
The Blogosphere on Planet Earth

Feel better soon Monty {Hug}
Here's a smile for you and Judy :) :)

Sorry to hear the injection didn't work. :( I was hoping it would be magic for you.

You'll feel better once Grace is home with you and in her spot next to Holmes.

As for the financial stuff? It sucks all over I think. I was hoping to have a mortgage by now, but I'm kind of glad I don't.

Those that are big of heart ache the most for all of this change. We struggle, painfully struggle through this time.

But do it together.

You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

ohhhhhhh, so sorry you are having a hard time right now. you are a wonderful person and deserve a nice long stretch of happiness.

riddle me this-- so say theoretically you know someone that has a 15 year fixed at 5%. should that person refinance only when it gets to 4%, the famous 1 point drop? or should that person stick with the 5 and pay a little more? or better yet, refinance for longer to get a smaller payment and still pay over? oh, I know what you are going to say to the last query..

thinking of you and Judy-- Hanukkah begins Sunday, yes?

It's tough times for you--that's for certain.
Rats that the injection didn't work.....now on to the MRI. We get to keep doing the next right thing.....even when we don't want to sometimes, huh?
*sigh*
Sometimes those 'perseverence' lessons are a pain in my backside!

Just sayin'.....

((((((((((((( Monty ))))))))))))))

Bless your heart for still reaching out.
Undoubtedly, that's one of THE best things I can do for me when life hands me gunk.

Hi Ali, it's always good seeing you.

Hi Carrie, thanks for the good thoughts. This too shall pass.

Hi M@, can we ring in Christmas first, please.

Hi Tiff, thanks for the kind words. Another MRI coming up, and the housing market could bottom mid-2009 and rates should be at 4% or lower.

Hi Claudia, thank you, it's good not being alone. I'm coming back.

Hi CMHL, thank you for your kind thoughts. I will have to write to you separately about the mortgage, but at least 4%, or why did you get a 15 year except to pay it off faster. You need a year of paying on the existing mortgage to refinance. I hope all is well with everyone at home. We need to catch up.

Hi Mel, thank you, I'll get through because of the folks that support me. Count yourself on that list, and thank you again.

Hi NoR, won't it be nice to see the end of 2008 and Bush?

Please excuse, Blogger has been down more than up for the last two days. Back to normal, I hope.

Ugh. Hugs to you and to your wife's friend. Our current losses are at $110K and I'm crossing my fingers that the short sale works.

As for the injection, so sorry it didn't work. But I can say from experience that as hard as it is to keep pressing on with all the medical crap, it will be completely worth it when it finally works. Don't give up.
