And While You're At It

The Bush Administration has changed its stance on Global Warming. Today, the UN has released its latest report on Global Warming and there is sufficient good science in it that the conservative wing of the Republican Party can no longer deny that humans have caused Global Warming.

I say this without rancor, if that is the right word. I don't have sources for you for the following statements, but we are also tearing out rainforests in Indonesia and Brazil at such an alarming level that we are reducing the level of oxygen on the planet, not to mention eliminating potential drugs and their sources. You can read about this kind of thing in National Geographic and a bazillion other places. Or ask someone who synthesizes drugs for a living. It's true, besides living with politicians, I live in the middle of the biotech corridor. I am not a biochemist and I don't play one on TV. The head of Otzuka Pharmaceuticals lives two doors away. He has an opinion. I'm a parrot.

All of these contribute to the environment. Build a place where the animals can't live, and why would you think that we could? We're animals too.

We have to get on board with the rest of the world and do something about the ecological devastation we've reaped.

Olives, we agree. Now the fight starts over what the 'probabilities' are and how to handle what threats. The real issue is how much money they will put into research.

Matt, you and me both. I follow your lead here.

Hi Rhea, what do you have in mind? I hope you come back.

We're the kind of animals where our instincts have gona awry!

The crazy thing is that this destruction is totally tied in to....progress and machinery...in which we're trying to separate from the natural world--a separation that really is not possible because, well, you said it, we're a part of it.

The photos of the polar bears break my heart. I can't take it but I force myself to because they're suffering. If they're suffering, we deserve to suffer...or at least I do.

Don't you know this is all propoganda so that the evil treehuggers can take over the planet...and possibly save it?

A big part of the problem is that quality is not something you can define in economics or science. Everyone seems to know it in the arts, but they can't define it either.

Please save us Lee, please.
