The Long and Short Of It

The Olympics are over. I did not pass the Series 66 exam last week, and neither did the other 4 people I took it with. When I took the Series 7, there were 160 questions and 6 hours to take the test. I finished in 3 hours. The 66 had 110 questions and was 3 hours long. I finished with 8 minutes to spare. It was basically law, and was pretty strange.

One question said, "The Administrator can invalidate your license for the following reasons, which one is not valid?" And they proceeded to list four perfectly valid reasons, which meant that they had changed a word in one of them, and you had to pick it out. I still have no idea. I'm not the lawyer-type.

I'm here to tell anyone who trips, this is a speed bump. I can refile to take the test again in 30 days. I'm not down, this is just a pain in the butt. Why wait to write about it so long? Our office had a surprise audit pulled the next morning that lasted three days, ending Friday night. That was a big deal. I took the weekend off and went with Judy to her Division's Annual Crab Feast yesterday.

And now that the Olympics are over, the Democratic National Convention starts tomorrow. Poor Open Grove Claudia, she deserves better. She lives in Denver, took close to where the the Convention will be. May she, her family, and her house be safe from Convention-sight-seers. And tigers, too.

I have POGD...Post Olympic Games Depression...

I'm sorry about the test, Monty, that IS a pain...but the audit too - wow - what kind of bad karma are you working off, kiddo?

Hi WnG, I think it's the price I paid for Michael Phelp's eight gold medals.

Hi Ali, I'm looking for the Force, didI leave it with you?

Hi NoR, from your lips to G-d's ear.

Well the bright side is things happen in 3s. Test, audit and Claudia's geography challenge.

Now only good things and times and Vodka. See?

I just read noregrets's comment and thought it said "it can only get better with heroin." I guess we see what we want to see! Better luck next time. That really does suck.

I'm sorry to hear about the 66-how frustrating to have to sit through that again. Sigh. I know you'll do it though!! :)

Ohhhhh.....a crab feast! :-)

Perfect remedy for silly tests and icky audits.

I'll hope the audit went well.
I know the test will happen when it's suppose to.
Still.....what a nice little speed bump. 30 days to kinda wrap your head around the knowledge of that legalspeak.

Legal-ese isn't my favorite either. I much prefer making up words. :-)

And I'm sooooo glad I wasn't the only one who read 'heroin'. LOL

*hugs*

If everybody failed it, that should be a clue to whoever created the test that it's awful.

I know you'll pass it. {Hug}

So sorry about the surprise audit! Crap. That's something you didn't need.

Hi Sis, time for the martinis! I'll call.

Hi Tiff, yup it does suck. But, what the hell, if nothing crappy ever happened, I'd never realize how good I have it. p.s. I also thought it was heroin, but you know I like wine. shhhhh

Hi Claudia, it's not the same 66 anymore. They have gone law crazy, and they can't figure out how to test it. Sarbanes-Oxley pushed them over the edge. It's aimed at high level people, but they are trying to hold entry level people responsible for detail level crap, in all the laws. They can't define the difference between an exemption and an exception so they use examples that make no sense. That means questions don't make any sense either. Ah, regulators. Be a libertarian.

Hi Mel, you always make perfect sense to me. Thank you.

Hi Carrie, not to worry, I'll make it, I'm still a broker. And we're still close friends! Bottom line, all is well!

Next year in Jerusalem... you'll ace it.

I'm glad you were able to take a little time off for R&R. You definitely needed it.

Keep on feeling better, Monty.

so sorry about the test!

I vividly remember all of the post-college tests I have failed. I have no good advice, just to say I have been there and know how it feels and tastes. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Hi Susan, you certainly do have me figured out. I'll get 'em next time. This is a blip. Thanks for caring. Next year in Jerusalem.

Hi CM. This is the kind of thing that keeps you humble. But it can't stop you. See, I do listen to you.
