A Red Letter Day

Today is my 36th Wedding Anniversary. What is remarkable is that both of our parents were married for 35 years before one of their partners died. We are going to Nick's Chop House for dinner. I like Nick's better than Morton's and Ruth Kris' because it is closer to the house, and the drive home when you are stuffed and can't see straight is best when it is short.

I am not going to worry about Presidential politics tonight. I am not going to worry about the correction in the stock market tonight. I am going to worry about taking a short trip, maybe to New York for a weekend to get away. Or a weekend at the Ocean. Something that makes you think it's summer.

What do you do to get away for summer?

Apparently I come to Nebraska!

Jealous of Nick's Steak House... eat dessert for me!

Do they have oven roasted asparagus at Nick's? I like it drizzled with olive oil and cracked black pepper. I'd rather have it plain that put butter on it.

Did you buy your lovely wife of 36 years a black opal?

Congratulations on putting up with each other for so long... ;)

I don't need to get away for the summer because it's the only time of the year when Blah Blah Land is transformed into it's own party-fest tourist destination with [almost always] beautiful weather. It's the winter that I need to get away from and rarely do.

happy anniversary!!
I don't worry about all that stuff on a regular basis...it's not like worrying about it will change anything. Definitely go for a nice trip somewhere, you deserve it after the rough times you've just been through!

Goodness! Thirty six years?! Incredible. I can't imagine being with anyone but myself that long. Enjoy the meal - there are few greater pleasure than sharing good food with people we love.

Puss x

Best of wishes to both of you on 36 years together!!!!!! Nice!
I get away from the stress by taking my beach chair to the edge of the sand and sit and watch the ocean while the waves lap up onto my feet....just looking at water brings me serenity and I'm lucky I have that right near by!
(If you come to NYC you've got to let me know!!)
Peace

Best Wishes to you Both!!
Here is to at least 36 more, clink!

Spending time on the beach watching the tide come in and go out is the best medicine for me. A jaunt to NYC always a good choice as well.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!!

congratulations on working it for 36 years.

Giving up is so much easier but far less satisfying.

I'm very late and so sorry I missed this. A belated Very Happy Anniversary!! :)

As for what to do or where to go...I say, just pack up the car and drive. Stop when you see a place that interests you. When you start to get tired, stop and sleep, then turn back, but take a different route home. :)
