Go Figure

The Decision Maker has decreed that this week we are on vacation. I hope you can see the mockery and derision dripping off of the words "Decision Maker" because she is the one that has come home with, wait for it, strep throat. I just brought her back from the doctor's and I have the antibiotic which I have inserted into her throat and then closed her jaws and tickled her throat, taking no chances. And it worked. Now, if it would just work on the cat, who watched the entire process.

Needless to say, we are not taking a leisurely drive down the Shenandoah Valley, or anywhere else for that matter. We're home.

So far, she has spilled my coffee all over my desk, my phone, and two books when she decided I needed more water. I tried to get her to sit down, and then she decided to make soup, where she promptly poured two quarts of water onto the kitchen counter.

I handed her a note saying that I had failed to communicate properly and that she should sit down in the recliner while I made her soup, and she should concentrate on getting better. I underlined concentrate for emphasis. One takes extreme measures when one's spouse is sick. I then escorted her to the recliner and helped her to sit down. I also asked the cat to sit and guard her and not let her get up and walk. The cat understood me perfectly, naturally. I put a blanket over her, and she was asleep before I got to the kitchen.

She is still asleep as I write this, and I can heat her soup up in about a minute whenever she wakes up.

Today was my Grandmother's birthday. It's the day I decided to get engaged oh so many years ago. It is one of my favorite days, falling between Christmas and New Years, as it gives me the opportunity to take stock of where I have been, and where I am going. Glamourpuss just wrote a post about the very same thing, and it is one of the best I have ever read. It is short and quite profound. Go see for yourself! Tell me what you think.

Good work CEO. I'm so glad to see that The Decision Maker is easier to pill than Holmes. And what a good girl Holmes is for keeping watch. And what a good husband of 991 years you are for being able to make soup, and for being willing to do so. Hope she is feeling well soon.

I find that Brunswick stew is just the thing when Misanthropster gets sick.

Best of luck!

Tell me did the underlined "concentrate" work? Because if it did, I may have to steal your methods my friend.

Hope she feels well soon.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year!!

I am glad to hear that I am not the only person that cannot recognize English when I am sick ~

I hope she gets better and the cat does not get sick

Rebecca- trust me, I am lucky. You should see what she did when after I was in the automobile accident where I almost broke my neck. She's a trooper.

Odat- things are looking up, she's still sleeping. Sleeping is good.

WG- yesterday, all I had to do was to pour a can of soup into a bowl and heat it up. Today, we start with a chicken....

Olives- my sweet heart is down. So naturally, I'm cooking.

Crankster- I'm starting with a chicken for chicken noodle soup. I already have the carrots, onions, garlic, celery, and seasoning simmering, and the chicken is about to go in. She's getting hot food. Even Holmes will get some chicken, and she's sitting here licking her lips, tugging at my pants to let me know she's here and available.

Wicked H- nice to see you. writing it out beats trying jedi mind tricks. When they're sick, they're out of it. Getting them into a recliner or bed is the secret. Then nature takes over. Happy New Year.

Claudia- a Happy and Healthy New Year to you too, and excellent grades and beautiful photos, and a fantastic book when you do it. Yeah,, Puss really did hit it, didn't she.

MJ- good to see you. Happy New Year, and you stay warm and healthy in all that snow out there. No, you're not the only one that speaks Klingon when you're sick. You and my wife and the cat sing the same song. Something about a mastadon....

I'll be calling you for soup heating duties if I come down with anything.

Mist- I can heat soup and pour vodka with great skill, not to mention make sandwiches, salads, and the occasional steak. I can do food.

At first, I thought the decision maker was the cat! ;) Hope your wife feels better soon. Strep for the holidays is a load of bullocks!

best,
lee

Lee the cat is the Queen, she assumes everything, like the mortgage being paid, and he food being served at the correct temperature, and that you know which game she wants to play and what the rules are, which may have changed without warning from last time, naturally. I do not live in a boring home.

Oh jeez. Hope the DecisionMaker (as opposed to the Deciderer?) gets better soon!

Well that sucks. I hope she gets better soon. She sure lucked out having you for a hubby!

That idea of writing a note when she stops listening...just tonight somebody suggested I do that with Mom. It's a great idea. Can't believe I never thought of it before. You're obviously very skilled at this caretaking thing :)

Enjoy your time away and Happy New Year!

Hope your wife feels better soon and that you are able to have a good New Year.

Alison- I need her well too.

Echo Mouse- actually I think we both lucked out, we'll see, it's only been a mere 991 years so far.

Clare- it's always good seeing you. Glad you're away from your Bossy Boss! I like your musical choices!
